Catering and Expanding!

Over the past 37 years, Monteverde Catering has evolved. Sole proprietor Edwin Monteverde founded the business in 1986 with his wife Debra Monteverde.  After many years, his daughter Kelly Monteverde Goldie joined the ownership in order to take the business to the next level.  In 2017, Edwin retired from the company and the mother/daughter team of Debra and Kelly took over.  The two reestablished the business as Monteverde Catering, LLC which offers full services for events ranging from weddings to picnics to corporate parties.  It is human nature to celebrate and mourn by sharing a meal with the ones we love.  Keeping to this tradition, our company offers a service that will never go out of style and brings the family spirit to the dinner table.

As leader of the small business, Kelly Goldie decided to seek help from the Duquesne University Small Business Development Center in order to expand. In 2020, she started working with Business Consultant, Donald Lodge.  With his insight into business management, growth, and planning he helped shape the company and gear it in a positive direction.  Donald’s knowledge and support was instrumental to the owners as they navigated the ups and downs in the many steps of their expansion project.  Due to Donald’s mentorship, Monteverde Catering exceeded its goals and expectations by securing all necessary capital to purchase and build a new kitchen.

Monteverde Catering closed on their new property in July of 2022!  The catering kitchen plans to be fully operational by May of 2023.

Being a women-owned business is another proud story for the Duquesne University SBDC. We are thrilled to be able to help Monteverde Catering in assisting them to grow!
